“If we never experience the chill of a dark winter, it is very unlikely that we will ever cherish the warmth of a bright summer’s day. Nothing stimulates our appetite for the simple joys of life more than the starvation caused by sadness or desperation. In order to complete our amazing life journey successfully, it is vital that we turn each and every dark tear into a pearl of wisdom, and find the blessing in every curse.”
― Anthon St. Maarten,
No matter how far we go into the future, mankind will be the same. No matter how much we want to deny that fact, our actions will remain the same. No matter how much we want to tell ourselves that we are different from our ancestors, at the end of the day we will all have one thing in common.
We never appreciate what we have till we’ve lost it.
When I first read this quote, that was my first thought. Because really, if we lose all the food we have, only then do we realize the significance of it. Only when we lose our parents, do we realize the sacrifices they made for us. Only when we lose what we have and enjoy on a daily basis do we truly long for it. And that is just how it works and we believe that there isn’t a way around it so we’re stuck in this loophole for the rest of our lives.
But really, I’ve found a way to break that loophole. Because when you really enjoy the moments that you have, no matter how negative they may seem, you break that loophole.
Even if it’s a day where you’re constantly under pressure at work, trying to complete everything before that deadline, you can enjoy it.
And now you might be wondering why you’re wasting your time reading this crap and let me tell you, I could be talking crap. Because I know, and trust me on this, that when I am struggling to finish work right before the deadline, the last thing I can think of is to enjoy it. I just can’t do it.
So, yes it is extremely hard to enjoy every moment and take something positive from even the most negative of things, but I am trying every single day to do just that. And I hope that you all at least give it a try.
